An accident investigation by the JTSB begins with the collection of factual information followed by necessary tests and research. The results of these activities are then comprehensively analyzed to identify the causes of the accident.
The results of the investigation are compiled into an investigation report, which is submitted to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and is also publicized.
When deemed necessary, the JTSB also provides recommendations or opinions to relevant ministers or parties involved in the accident, in order to prevent recurrences and to mitigate the damage caused by accidents.
